Delectable Food at your Fingertips

Have you noticed that the pork being sold at our supermarkets are getting leaner and leaner? That is because, each year, food scientists are finding ways to meet the demand of leaner pork with less fat. Well, it is indeed beneficial to our health as they say, however, there is still one great downside to it and that is the fact that it is the fat which moistens the pork and makes it taste so good because it carries the flavors. It is such a good news then to know that there are still farmers who preferred to raise the traditional native and rare breeds of pigs such as the Gloucestershire Old Spot, a certain breed of pig that has a distinct layer of juice-spurting backfat and marbling within the meat. The old spot pig produces a top quality meat for all purposes and has a very fine carcass. What a relief! Now, we no longer have to deny our tastebuds with such a mouthwatering dish plus you can just order them online and have them delivered to your home!

At Farmison, you’ll find a variety of food products produced from the Gloucestershire Old Spot breed from different farms such as Boned Shoulder, Boned & Rolled Leg and Middle Loin of Pork from the Abotts Close farm and Minced Pork, Silverside, Pork Belly Steaks, and Pork T-Bone from the Quarry Bank Farm. You can even order carrots, potatoes and other ingredients from them. They also sell bacon, hams, sausages and burgers and even have a long list of high quality meat products from other animals as well like beef, lamb, pork, veal, poultry, game and game birds. They’re animals are bred slowly and the meat are naturally dry-aged which makes it even more flavorful.

Now that Christmas is fast approaching, ordering from them is a wise choice. You’ll not just be able to put delightful food on your table, you’ll also be able to save your cooking time to bond with your family. Such a good deal, right? Therefore, go ahead and order now!

Lunch to Munch

I just want to share to my readers our food the other day. I forgot the restaurant though. Thats the problem if you are just invited for lunch and you don't pay and keep the receipts.

Bon Appetit!!

Package From Cagayan de Oro

Happy Fiesta Tagoloan! Yes, my mother is from Tagoloan. She said that its their fiesta but I don't know whether its the town fiesta or just their barangay. Anyhow, she sent us this box full of goodies.

Filipinos especially in the provinces are really fond of celebrating fiestas. It is customary to prepare food, lotsa foods as all your relatives, friends, neighbors and all the passersby will come and visit you. Of course, in anticipation of such flock of people, my mom roasted one pig and another 2 for the menudo, grilled pork and other delicacies.

For us siblings who are based in Manila, she sent us this package with half of the lechon and some more food. My brother fetched this from Cebu Pacific. Thanks dear Mother!

Beer, Food and Fun at the Oktoberfest 2011 at Sofitel

Every year, we never failed to attend the Oktoberfest organized by the German Club. Of course, why would we? Our boss is a German and we like to parteey! So we bought 10 tickets at roughly PhP 2,000 each. We invited a couple of friends and we partied the night away.

This was my second servings of pure Bavarian food. Lots of sausages and German food to choose from with free flowing San Miguel draft beer.

Cheers to everyone!

Mexican Food: Slightly different but tantalizingly delicious andpalatable!

Are planning to hold a one-of-a-kind event? Are you looking for unique reception catering exquisite food? Or a banquet hall Frisco that can conveniently hold your gathering and special events? Or a restaurant where you can simply party and chat with your friends or loved ones?

Well, a Mexican restaurant Frisco might just be right for you. Yes, I recommend a Mexican restaurant. Surprised? Well, you shouldn’t be. Because Mexican cuisine is award winning and well-known all over the world for varied flavors, colorful decorations and variety of spices and ingredients used. In fact, it has been added by UNESCO to its lists of the world’s “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”! Though style of Mexican dishes originates in Mexico, it has a long and varied history that has now evolved through the years of blending indigenous cultures and influences.

For those who craves for hot and spicy foods, the Mexican cuisine can surely offer you a lot of dishes to choose from since chilli peppers play a big part in the traditional mexican food. However, most of Mexico’s gastronic delights are not always spicy unlike what others say and believe although one can always add some minced chilli, chilli powder, or spicy salsa to any mexican dish. Some dishes are simply creamy and sweet and are compromised of mild combination of corn and beans but are still totally flavorful and equally delicious such as the tacos, cheese crisps, burritos, tostadas, sopes, flautas and enchiladas. Aside from being luscious and delightful, most of these Mexican dishes are really good for those who are health conscious since they are lower in fat and calories and are bursting in important vitamins and nutrients.

Still not convinced? So hurry up and try it! You’ll definitely be captured by the cuisine’s rich, incredible flavors and will surely say that it’s deliciously different!

Popular Halo-Halo of Chowking

In a hot and humid day, I always like to eat halohalo. Its the Filipino version of ice cream. The best ice cream for me is from Chowking.

This photo is taken in Cagayan de Oro during their fiesta. It was so hot and traffic and thought of halo-halo!

No Dinner Last Night

I skipped dinner last night! I was not hungry at all. When I arrived from the office, I was so damn tired. I ate one whole sweet pomelo while watching TV Patrol. After the news, I started blogging again until 9:30 PM, before bed, the nanny prepared milk for Alexa, Milo for Topoy, and Energen Choco for Francis and so I also asked for my own Energin in vanilla flavor. Yummy!

Yummy Krispy Kreme Donuts

A couple friend of mine from Tandag, Surigao del Sur came to Manila to find a new suppliers of shoes and bags. After 2 days, they were finished with their business and came to visit us.

They arrived in the warehouse just in time for our dismissal. We stayed for an hour in the canteen for a small chitchat with our boss, who happens to know them too a few years back. Donna and Ferdie brought 4 boxes of Krispy Kreme for the kids but after talking and looking at the boxes, we were tempted to open it. And indeed we finished one box. I gave one box for my brother as he was leaving for Bulacan. The rest of the donuts, I brought home! It was simply delicious! Surprisingly!

They simply loved it!

Healthy Homemade Soups

In this day and age it can be hard to eat healthy. With your busy schedule, especially if you have children, many people find it easier to grab whatever is available and the quickest and deal with the health consequences later. With the following tips for soups you’ll learn how to make sure that the food you grab is of the healthy variety.

Soup is tasty, filling, and good for you anytime. There are hot soups and believe it or not even cold soups. Many of the warm soups are even good eaten cold or lukewarm.

First, choose your favorite soup. A popular choice of many is the infamous chicken noodle soup. There’s nothing better when you are under the weather than the warm chicken broth soothing your throat.

Preparing your own soup creations at home is the best way to go. No matter which type of soup you choose to make, be sure to use fresh ingredients. The other items you’ll need are plenty of cups with lids and a blender. A good soup always starts with the stock. For chicken soup, make the broth by boiling the remains of the chicken you had for dinner. Add the herbs and seasonings of your choice and boil until the chicken bones come out clean. Any remaining meat will be included in the broth. Once the broth cools completely, ladle it into air-tight jars or containers for storing.

If you’re more of a beef and vegetable soup lover, you can use commercial canned broths or bouillon cubes for the base of your soup. Season the stock really well and boil before adding any other ingredients. Once the stock is ready, all that is left to do is toss in your favorite veggies. Again, wait until the soup is completely cooled before pouring into storage or serving containers. Then eat it and if there is some leftovers - freeze it.

So whenever you want soup, just get it from the fridge and reheat it.. As I said earlier, it could be hot or cold whichever you like best.

Royal K Buffet Closed?

A friend of mine visited us yesterday and after sending them at Mall of Asia to meet up with their other friends, we dropped by at McDonalds to buy happy meals and burgers for the yaya.

Afterwhich, we decided to eat at Yakimix for dinner. We were happy to get the nearest parking. At Yakimix, there were 4 groups ahead of us and after waiting for 15 minutes of waiting and cant wait any longer - we decided to leave and eat at Royal K Buffet at Bluewave. I bought 2 vouchers from eBay Kuponan months ago for a buffet meal.

Hubby parked and off we searched for the restaurant. Then got a surprise of my life!! Royal K Buffet is closed????

Holy smoke! Holy Cow! How can it be?

What happen to the coupon which I bought before? For the bin?

Royal K Buffet - I tried to call your number and unreachable! What a joke?!

I will surely raise this issue with eBay Kuponan. After all, its their responsibility as they are in principle the seller.

Chicken Feet Adobo

Its Monday and I knew I missed two food memes in row. And so I am making up for this one. My entry for this week is my favorite chicken feet adobo. I started eating chicken feet from the chinese food. Then my mom cooked chicken feet adobo, the rest is history.

I seldom eat this as hubby doesn't buy this in the market. But when I can come along, he simply cannot stop me. When I am stress and want to splurge myself with food, I better eat this than lechon. Whatchasay?

Have you tried this? Masarap eto.. try mo!

Fried Fish On The Table

I am not really hungry but I have to eat because its a little bit late.. oh well, its 8:52 PM not somehow quite late for dinner. If I eat so late, I would be able to burn the food so I will sleep with a heavy tummy. Not really good.

My hubby is really fond of fish. He always likes to eat fish with malunggay with matching friend fish. In a weeks budget, he eat that at least 3 times during dinner. Why dinner only? Because in the morning, we normally eat the simple breakfast food, then lunch in the office or in a restaurant, so dinner we want to light and a home-cooked meal.

Grilled Fish For Dinner

The fish kill story in Batangas and other provinces was catastrophic, not only to the businessman but also the fisherman. We as a consumer, were also afraid of buying milkfish or bangus and tilapia.

But just before the fish kill tragedy, we cooked a grilled milkfish for dinner with stuffing of our favorite tomatoes and onions.. made our dinner a sumptuous meal!

This is my entry for Yummy Sunday:

Sweet and Sour Pork

Every time we dine at a Chinese Restaurant, sweet and sour pork is always present in the menu and also always present whenever we order. The combination of sweet and sour taste makes this viand popular.

I must admit, I already forgot where we eat when I took this photo. Maybe at Noodle Park or in Savory Restaurant.

My entry for this week's:

Craving for Shrimp Salad

The kids are still out. I am a little hungry now. I didn't eat the instant noodles which I prepared earlier for hubby.

I am currently cleaning up my hard drive for not-so-important photos and I saw this shrimp salad which was served on the business class section of Philippine Airlines from Qatar to Manila - our stop over from Berlin.

I am craving for this shrimp salad now. And really, makes me even more hungry while uploading the file. I guess I have to search some left over foods in the refrigerator now to reheat.

Sunday On Our Own

Sunday is a family day. But today is something different, the kids went out with Ate Beng and Ate Weng - my trusted househelpers. Francis is invited by his classmate for a birthday party at Toms World. The other kids were tagged along, but not to gate crash the party - but to play on their own at Toms World.

Gate crashing is a big No! No.! Imagine, Francis is invited alone but parents (like me) would always assume that he comes with both parents or yaya + parent or just one either 1 parent or yaya. Then comes the team of Francis - a total of 5 headcounts. lol.. It will be embarassing! Though I am not there but its simple etiquette.

Our Sunday is completely on our own. Hubby requested to cook for instant noodles - the Korean version. Upon checking the pantry, we dont have anymore so I just cook Lucky Me instant noodles and just added extra spice.

That will be our food for lunch - an instant noodles for an instant lunch!

Affordable Food Deals

Group buying is getting popular nowadays. There are so many companies vying to be number 1. I became a member of Buyanihan first, then Ensogo came, Metrodeals, Wowdeals, Pakyaw, even eBay Philippines has something like this.

I first bought a buffet dinner/lunch at Royal K Buffet at Blue Wave for like Php 199.00 if I am not mistaken. I bought it a couple of months ago and up to now, it is still a voucher, I haven't been there yet. I hope that soon, I could take hubby there so I can take a photo and most importantly review the restaurant and eBay.

The other day, I was watching a lot of very tempting deals in the net, mostly on food. But ended buying 3 vouchers for the kids for unlimited play for Php 175.00 at Active Fun - SM North Edsa. This comes with Soyami Soya Chips, drinks and ice cream. Cheap? Or is it cheap? Sounds good to me. I haven't told my kids yet, better not! Otherwise they will pester me until I give in.

There was an offer that is so delicious, that I almost press the Buy Now portion. Luckily the side of my brain said "NO! You have to buy your son a new sets of uniform." Luckily!

Loving Indonesian Food

Early this year, we went to Surabaya to visit a friend at the same time offer our products for their Indonesian market. We were introduced to another guy who seems to be well aversed with stickers - all kinds of self adhesives paper and films. We offered him our products at the same time, learned about different kinds of stickers.

We were in this restaurant which serves mostly cakes or kakanin in our Filipino dialect.

Anyway, Indonesian foods are mostly cooked with coconut milk. There is a distinct aroma, but when you taste it, its taste so spicy, sometimes sweet.. but it tastes good. I will feature some of the photos taken while we were having dinner. I still have to dig it out from my archives.

Its funny, I know a lot of you find it funny even my boss and friends are laughing about me, but when you are a blogger, you have to document all your actions, foods, travels, everything.. so you have something to blog about.

For now, delight yourself with this pinkish, strawberry flavored cake. It looks good, but taste even better.

At the end of every meal, you ask yourself, is it worth it? Oh yes, taste matters!!

Lazy Sunday

We have a lazy Sunday today. As usual, I try to free my Sunday as much as I can. I just want to lay down, rest and be happy in the company of my kids and hubby. I know the boys want to go out, we do if its needed and if we want to please them or promised something.. but otherwise, staying at home with them is just as good.

We had squid for lunch. The kids love adobong squid as well as hubby but not me. I can eat but not really liked. The daughter of one of our helper came to visit her mom, so we bought extra litson manok and pork liempo at Baliwag.

Roasted Chicken

Today is a lazy day. We are just at home playing with the kids and me and hubby, the usual stuff of movie marathon.

We went to RFC this afternoon to buy our weekly food and since we were with the kids, the push cart was full of their stuff and we were told its for their store.

Anyway, our lunch for today is a roasted chicken from Manok ni San Pedro.

Dining Sets

When we moved to this new house, the old furnitures of the landlord were left as the other house where she wanted to place them was not available at the time of our moval. So basically, some of our furnitures cannot be moved in this house so we stored them in the warehouse. Its also better as the house now is small and we have furnitures requires a big space.

Some of the dining chairs are broken and I asked some guys from the warehouse to repair them. Now its in working condition but I need to replace the table cloth as it was like this since we arrived. Or maybe I will just wait for sale items at SM Bacoor.

Dried Fish

Do you like dried fish? We call dried fish in Tagalog "tuyo" and in Visayan "buwad" or "bulad" depending on your location either in Visayas or Mindanao.

Anyway, this photo is taken at a Korean public market. This is how their dried fish is displayed. Thats we cant help it but stop and take a photo - yes for souvenir. :)

Its always nice to travel to other country as you can see how they live and the way the eat.

Ginger Beer

Hubby is currently in the canteen as he was invited by a friend in their shooting club for a drink. After sending us home, he came back and so here I am in my mini-office trying to blog about our previous activities.

Chedeng is arriving and is already pouring so much rain around our area. Its cold and I am in the mood for drinking. I looked at the fridge and saw this Angus O'Neil's Ginger Beer. I was curious about this beer as it says ginger..

The taste is kind of gingery.. and a little bit sweet.. a different taste! I am sure some of my lady friends will love this as it is not bitter at all.

Angus O'neil's is made in Australia. Named after the son of Frederick O'Neil who commenced bottling table ales in North Fitzroy. Its a family business he founded in 1840.

Korean Kimchi

Kimchi is one of the delicacies of korean food. Everytime Koreans eat, one of the variand in the table is always kimchi. There seems to be many kinds of kimchi. I should know because the wife of my boss is a Korean and everytime she comes here in the Philippines or we visit her in Germany, kimchi is always present in her fridge.

For that matter, I am kind of used to eating the korean way. When we went to Korea last year, we would always eat at traditional Korean restaurant and I say - its really difficult to sit in the floor. I mean with this kind of tummy now, hey, its difficult. I cant fold it!! lol

Anyway, while we were in Seoul, after a series of meetings and factory visits, we wanted to relax on our own and just walked along the busy streetrs of Seoul. Then our feet sent us to a market.. these photos are actually taken at a public market.

Chinese Traditional Food

My hubby went to Beijing last year to visit one of our buyer. He was invited for a dinner at a traditional chinese restaurant.

These were the foods served. He said that these are the traditional cooking of Chinese. That I cant confirm as I am not a Chinese.

The meat here looks so appetizing. Hubby said it was delicious.
